The HRPP has appointed a Rapid Review Team (RRT) to ensure Research on the Health Impact of Changes in Federal Policies since January 2025 and Dobbs Impact Initiative Related Research is fast tracked to approval.
The HRPP Rapid Review Team is led by two senior HRPP staff people: Joanne Mickalian (IRB Manager) and Cheri Etter (Expedited/Exempt and GESCR Coordinator).
Other HRPP Analysts, IRB Chairs, and IRB Members also conduct or participate in reviews, depending on the type of research, expertise needed, and level of review required.

Initial Review (new studies):
Request Rapid Review by writing a brief note in the “Special Processing” item of the Initial Review Submission Packet of your IRB submission stating:
- The issue being addressed
- Date that the work needs to begin and/or date work needs to be completed
- Funding due date (if applicable)
Modifications (approved studies):
Request Rapid Review by email to Joanne Mickalian and Cheri Etter. Please include:
- The IRB study number and PI name
- The issue being addressed
- Date that the work needs to begin and/or date work needs to be completed
- Funding due date (if applicable)
