Meeting Dates and Submission Deadlines

Every effort will be made to include modification and continuing review submissions on an agenda if they are received before NOON on the submission deadline. However, because of fluctuations in submission volume and other circumstances that may arise, there is no guarantee that these submissions will be added to the upcoming agenda. They will be added to the next available agenda once the submission is deemed to be complete.

Note: Brand new studies (initial submissions) requiring full committee review, as well as submissions eligible for expedited review, are assessed on a rolling basis in the order they are received. Submission deadlines apply only to modifications and continuing review submissions that require full committee review.

There are currently six committees that share the responsibilities of the IRB. The committee members have various areas of expertise and are from all schools and many disciplines. Appointments are typically for two years and renewable by mutual agreement. The Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Senior Associate Vice Chancellor – Research Infrastructure & Operations gives final approval to an appointment or the decision to rotate a member off the IRB. The Letter to Sponsors About Membership has more information on the IRB membership.

IRB Leadership Group

The IRB Leadership Group is composed of the HRPP Director and the Chairs and Vice Chairs of all six IRB Committees. The group meets monthly to address major HRPP policy issues, increase harmonization of review processes across panels, and develop standard protocol review practices.
