New Relying Sites Form Announcement

Coming Soon: IRB Form for Adding Relying Sites

On Monday, November 4th, the IRB will release a new form in iRIS called the “Add Relying Sites” form.

Detailed guidance will be shared closer to the release date. For now, here are the key things to know:

When should the Add Relying Sites form be used?

On/after November 4th, use this form if you have an approved study and are adding relying sites to the IRB application. Until then, you can add relying sites via the Modification Form.

What are “relying sites”?

Relying sites are non-UCSF or non-UCSF-affiliated study sites that are seeking to rely on the UCSF IRB to serve as their “IRB of Record” in lieu of their own IRB or another non-UCSF IRB.

After November 4th, can relying sites still be added via the Modification Form?

No. Adding relying sites on/after November 4th can only be accomplished via the Add Relying Sites form.

Please note that you must consult with the UCSF IRB and receive advance agreement before adding relying sites to a study. The UCSF IRB makes decisions about whether sites can rely on us on a case-by-case basis, depending on a number of factors.
